In this new series of posts, we’ll cover nine things chiropractic can do improve health and wellness.

We’ll start with the most common reason people seek chiropractic treatment:

1. Reduction of Low Back Pain
Study upon study has shown that chiropractic care is effective in the treatment of all levels of back pain from mild to severe. Chiropractic adjustments won’t only help to alleviate pain, but will also prevent it down the road by maintaining proper spinal alignment.

A patient’s back is often restricted or unstable for months or years before it presents as a problem and the patient seeks chiropractic care. Muscle, ligament, and joint injuries often occur as a result of long-term biomechanical dysfunction, sometimes from past injuries, making the area more susceptible to future injury.

The more quickly you get to the chiropractor, the more quickly you will feel better and begin healing.

2. Neck Pain and Headache – Relief and Prevention
Just like with back pain, chiropractic can relieve neck pain and other neck problems. Chiropractic care has proven beneficial in relieving and preventing all kinds of headaches including those caused by tension, sinus pressure, TMJ, and vascular conditions.

3. Improves the Nervous System
The nerves that travel through and control every function of your body originate at the spinal cord, and their transmission may be disrupted if the joints of the surrounding spinal column are not moving properly. This disruption in biomechanical integrity combined with altered physiological function is what chiropractors call a subluxation.

Spinal nerves exit the vertebra and branch off to the various organ systems. This is why it is not uncommon for a chiropractor to treat a patient with mid-back pain who also suffers from irritable bowel system, a patient with a subluxated sacrum who has been unsuccessfully trying to become pregnant, or a patient with an upper back fixation and acid reflux.

Chiropractic can help with a myriad of health and wellness problems. If you are in need of chiropractic treatment, please call our office. We would love to set up a consultation at our Roanoke, Virginia location.
