In this two-part series, we’re covering nine things chiropractic can do improve health and wellness.

We’ll continue with this important list:

4. Improved Athletic Performance
Athletes use chiropractors to stay well and perform better, not just for the occasional injury. Athletes choose chiropractors because we are movement specialists. Chiropractors are often the first choice of Olympians and other top athletes. Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Michael Phelps, Tom Brady, Evander Holyfield, and Arnold Schwarzenegger have all been proud patients of chiropractors. These days it’s far more common than not for major athletes and sports teams to keep chiropractors nearby to help prevent injuries, speed injury recovery, improve balance and coordination, and give athletes a greater competitive edge.

5. Chiropractic may help you prevent illness.
Studies have indicated that adjustments consistently reduce the production of pro-inflammatory mediators associated with tissue damage and pain and may also enhance the production of immunoregulatory complexes important for healthy immune system defense.

As far back as the deadly flu pandemic of 1917-1918, chiropractors noticed that their patients seemed to have fewer fatalities than the general population and were able to publish their work in an osteopathic journal since no scholarly journals were accepting chiropractic data. The estimated death rate among patients of conventional medical care in the U.S. was estimated at 5-6% while the fatality rate among influenza cases receiving spinal adjustments was estimated at 0.25%.

6. Chiropractic helps you age gracefully.
Many seniors aren’t aware of the benefits of chiropractic care, which can not only relieve pain relief, but also increase range of motion, improve balance and coordination, and decrease joint degeneration. We often take our mobility for granted until something compromises it. One of the best reasons for visiting a chiropractor regularly is to be able to enjoy better range of motion and mobility.

7. Chiropractic helps children.
There’s no patient too young for chiropractic! Chiropractors will check an infant moments after birth for misalignments of the upper vertebrae that may occur as a result of the birth process. In addition to supporting overall health and well-being, parents take their children to chiropractors to encourage healthy brain and nervous system development and to assist with colic, asthma, allergies, bed-wetting and sleeping problems, and behavioral disorders.

8. Chiropractic helps women.
As joyous as becoming a mother is, pregnancy brings with it all kinds of pain and discomfort. Regular visits to the chiropractor will alleviate symptoms like back and leg pain, cramps, nausea, and headaches. It’s also been shown that proper spinal alignment can help with an easier birth.
Women who were not pregnant will find that visiting a chiropractor can help alleviate the pain and discomfort associated with menstruation like low back pain, cramping, and headaches.

9. Relief for Chronic Conditions – Fibromyalgia and TMJ
There are many physical complaints associated with Fibromyalgia and TMJ. The pain can be unbearable. It has been shown that regular chiropractic care can alleviate many of the painful and uncomfortable symptoms of these conditions. A chiropractor can help you manage the pain and get you back to doing the things you love.
